INTRODUCTION:

Bethany Indian Development Society (BIDS) was born in 1985, with a vision of its secretary Mr. Surendra Patrick, alone crusader, to provide education, health care, awareness programme, sanitation programme, agriculture and water resource management and emergency relief programme. Apart from this we give emphasis over all around development of women and children in the weaker section.

A group of dedicated and like minded people with a commitment for comprehensive rural development formed a society St. Stephen Public School Samiti on Dec. 23, 1985 but it is renamed as Bethany Indian Development Society (BIDS) [Registered No. 451/85-86(Jaipur) F.C.R.A. No. 125560036]. A small beginning was made way back in 1987 to conduct health education programmes. Later it was expanded to conduct women literacy, vocational training and community awareness activities. The society, now has 6 full time staff, a panel of four consultants, five part time workers and four volunteers.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE SOCIETY:

Like a rising sun Bethany Indian Development Society has came into existence in the year 1985. Formed by a group of dedicated and like minded people, with a desire for comprehensive rural development with a distinct focus on weaker section for women and children and their all round development.

Way of Working:

Bethany Indian Development Society (BIDS) strategy recognizes that child centered development should result in goal of incresed security for children and families which can be factorial into the dimension of Food Security, Economic Security, Health Security and Educational Security. This is achieved by providing support to local communities and this has enabled us to reach out to vulnerable children and women in remote areas.
